Art therapy provides a more tangible way to express feelings and emotions. It eases distress and helps to cope with trauma.
When we feel anxious, stressed, worried or sad, it is very difficult to focus, concentrate or think. Daily tasks become hard and social interactions seem pointless or became overwhelming.
By giving ourselves space to reflect, understand and process our feelings, we can build resilience and break adaptive behaviours. In that way, new creative adjustments can be formulated leaving the individuals more ‘flexible, more capable, and more whole’, triggering the transformational process of growth, which is and always has been within ourselves.
